Day 30 Curly Bob has a brother
Six days old, and sweet as sweet can be. I had a blast shooting "Curly Bob's" new brother. I loved chatting with him and asking questions about his new brother, Wilson. Curly Bob does not think Wilson's hair will be as nice as his, he likes being a brother, and he doesn't feel Wilson is as cute of a baby as he was. So there you have it, right from the expert

Day 29 Little Miss is 11 months old!
Somebody put the brakes on. Eleven months old! Her personality is forming and her curiosity is growing. Her cute new learn to walk is picking up speed. We actually saw her run when her mama came in to pick her up yesterday. She has some words, and is learning some signs. She is my favorite grand daughter at this point. :-) It helps being the only girl.

Day 27 & 28 such a fun few days
So the girls get away was tons of fun. Laughter, games, shopping, pedicures, and let us not forget a little rain. Being the Oregon girls we are, we didn't let a little rain get in our way. Nurturing friend time is so important. It's all too easy to get caught up in the day to day family life, work life, etc. etc. I have to remember to stop, take a breath, and make time for girlfriends. The non stop laughter that ends in snorts is soothing to my soul, and makes me happy just remembering it.
Trying to get out of Palm Springs was no easy matter. Plane was diverted twice, out of the gate twice, and then finally five hours after our original take off time, we were in the air and headed back to Oregon. Two hours in the air, and as we started the desent, water ran across the windows, oh yes, we were home, and the rain came out to greet us.
Having citrus trees on the side of the property was such a plus! Fresh oranges for breakfast. Nothing like the oranges we buy in the store. So juicy, so sweet. Oh, if I could grow citrus here!

Day 26 rain in the desert
Ok, rain in the desert isn't what I had in mind when we planned this trip, but rain is what we got. I heard it at 5 am when I woke up, and it was still raining at 11pm when I went to my casita for the night.
Girls trip, fun sun, had to be changed to girls trip fun, rain. So here's a peek of our day.
So we went for pedicures
So here we are at La Casita de Mus Suenes "little house of my dreams" When life gives you lemons, we make guacamole. And play apples to apples.

Day 25 Palm springs get away
I've mentioned that since the high school reunion, the ladies have tried to make time to get together. This weekend two other friends and I flew to Palm Springs to visit a friend who lives in the area. We originally thought we would stay with the CA friend at her home, but then her generous husband rented us a home in Palm Springs.
This home is straight out of Old Hollywood. You would think that if you looked down the road, we would find the rat pack. So generous of him, and we are having a great time catching up.
Last night we went into town for dinner and walked the streets where they were having a street fair. At times I felt like a salmon going upstream. So many people, but a fun warm evening and a nice change of pace.
This fine snout was at one of the booths. Funny, yet perfectly normal for Palm Springs. |
On the sidewalks are stars of people who have contributed in some way to Palm Springs. I had to snap this one. Who doesn't love the tin man from the Wizard of Oz?
This morning, I'm the only one up at the crack of dawn, the rain is gently falling which I hope is over before we truly start the day. There's a swimming pool I'm wanting to attack, and somehow in the rain it doesn't seem as good.

Day 24 Boots are made for walking
Little one usually has soft leather shoes. This day she had big girl boots. It was a riot watching her walk
around in them. Needless to say, it didn't slow her down.
Such a funny little girl. She loves balls. I thought having a granddaughter would be time for girly things. So far, not happening. Maybe she'll be a baller. Time will tell.

Day 23 Sister Act
Yesterday was our rendition of "sister act" My older sister and I traveled to Portland in freezing fog to visit with our younger sister and to have lunch with our two nieces. Everyone made it without instance. Our great nephew OE was there and kept us all entertained as only an almost three year old boy can do.
Sisters, an invisible thread that connects us, we are all so different, yet so much the same. No longer do we have a mother, or a brother, it's important that we don't cut this invisible thread that holds us together. Extending that thread to our nieces is equally important. They have grown into beautiful intelligent women with children of their own. I pledge to make the effort for more get together time.

Day 21...a busy week
I've been quite busy with photos. Not complaining, I love it, just making a comment. Yesterday I took a break from editing the boudoir shoot to deliver photos to the cutie that stole my heart. For the record, he's still a doll baby. The hubs is off hunting, it's been a quiet house. The DIL has the upper respiratory crud. I helped out with baby girl yesterday, and then daughter, one son, DIL, and baby girl and I went out to grab a bite to eat. Nice to have girl time. We had much to celebrate since our 9'rs did it again. They had some exciting moments, and left us in the lurch, but in the end, they came out with a win!

Day 20 Peek into yesterday's shoot
Yesterday was first for me. I did a boudoir photo shoot for three beautiful women. It will be a Valentine gift for their husbands. Once we all got over our nerves, things started to go smoothly. I had hoped for a brighter day, but gray and dreary is what I had to work with. We searched for the light where we could, and the ladies came up with some lovely things for their hubs.
This is one of the shots that is safe for public viewing. So pretty, isn't she?

Day 19 reuniting with old friends
Ever since our high school reunion last summer, the ladies have made a point to touch bases regularly. It's nice to catch up, normal chit chat, but then we learn that one of the women is having chemo. I how I hate Cancer. Truly I do.
Not a bad looking bunch, for a group of "old bags" !

Day 18....sweetness at 13 days young
Yesterday I finally got to meet Brett. His mama has been having some trials, oh my how she's been challenged with this new motherhood. She's an amazing woman, and is tackling it with grace and strength.
I was mesmerized by this sweet new life as soon as he came in. He has such an angelic face, and I couldn't quit looking at his mouth. He's going to be a heart breaker, I can feel it. And feel it I did. I'll take any opportunity to hold, snuggle and just soak up all the new life. I love it!

This was my first shot. I didn't get the blocks in the right place, but ohhhhh that face! I can't wait until I take the photos to his mama and maybe, just maybe I can get another snuggle in. |

Day 17 Little one one the move
Ten and a half month's old. Picking up speed. She can leave a room in stealth mode and I find her at the back of the house with the cat. She wants all things she sees big people having. Phones, computers, pens, anything she sees adults using, she thinks she needs.
Yesterday marked a milestone. We officially had to go in "lock down" to keep her contained in the room I was in. And so it goes.
Trying her hand at emailing...
Hmmmm, what was their number?
