Where does the time go?

We have been home a couple of weeks now. The time zone change went more smoothly than I remembered it going. Granted, I would be a little fuzzy, but I didn't take any naps and slept all night and pretended that all was well.

Upon returning home, I had scheduled photo shoots which is always a treat for me. With that, and the hours of editing that goes into it, I just haven't found time to sit down and blog. I have so many wonderful shots from our trip that I want to share, hoping I can get to those soon.

Yesterday was Father's Day. We had gone to visit the Father in Law in his new facility on Saturday. Son is off on a business trip to China, and DIL is leaving for work on Thursday, so we thought we'd give her some time to get things together by taking baby girl with us for the visit.

When we arrived, we used the phone to call and say we'd like to visit. Then I noticed a sign on the door listing what you could and couldn't do. NO CHILDREN UNDER 12 years old. Hmmmm. No cameras, or cell phones, hmmmm. If there are service dogs, then why not service children?? Little children seem to lift the spirits of older folks faster than anything.

Luckily they set us up in a conference room, and our "service child" was allowed in. I took a few shots with my phone, and that will have to be the documentation of his 73rd father's day. It's hard to visit, he's in a deeper fog than ever. The once energetic, talkative man is a mere shell of a man now. Dementia has taken over and appears to be winning the battle.

When I think back on this man who I have known for 41 years, it's more years than I knew my own father. I was only able to celebrate 24 Father's Days with my own dad.  It is probably one of the saddest times for us a family to watch this disease run it's course.

We celebrated on Sunday with the hubs, and SIL by going to a farm nearby that is known for their hop fields and beer. They were having live music and the weather was perfect for a day outdoors. Photos of this celebration later in the week.  For now I leave you with some baby love and our Saturday visit.

I loved shooting this little guy. I've known his mama since she was born, and seeing this come full circle warms my heart right down to my little toe!

Beautiful shots! So sorry that your FIL is suffering. Heartbreaking to see. All I can think, with his hat on, is that there must be a wealth of stories lived over his lifetime. I'm so glad that he has been a blessing to you!

I'm so sorry to hear about that disease. In an effort to give you hope, it's all about perspective. If I've realized anything lately, I've realized that you rarely end up where you think you're going. It's a pleasure, really - to be unaware of the future. It gives you a chance to dream and believe in something greater than our own. On that note, Christ has a perfect plan. Trust in it & he will carry you out of the pain. From one blogging friend to another, I pray that you will uncover a miracle in what seems to be the black & white truth. Blessings to you, sweet friend. Have a wonderful week.
