Joyful second grader

Oh sweet boy. My #1 grandson. Firsts are always special for just that reason. They were first. We have a close relationship, although I notice his hugs are getting more reserved, and kisses are not happening any more. He is the Bert to my Ernie, my Oscar to his Felix.

He has a tooth that is just dangling from his mouth. His speech is a little mumbled. Snaggle tooth has been his name lately. I even offered a $5 bribe if he would pull it within a day. Guess he doesn't need money bad enough. Surely it will be gone by the end of this weekend!

This is most likely the last shot of this fella with his front teeth this way. Big teeth are on the way.

Breakfast at Tiffanys or Tutu's

My oh my. Seven month's of this little sweetie. Where has the time gone? She changes almost daily now. Excuse the explosion of photos, I just couldn't help myself!

This elegant little one is doing her imitation of Aubrey Hepburn....

I love everything about this shot. The colors, the wind in her hair, and their smiles.

Technically not a great photo, but I love this. It IS him.

My favorite thing about this is the bed head, the sleepy look on his face.

These two are on a plane today. Pray for a judge that will grant their wishes of adopting a little girl that they have fallen in love with.

A tardy week in rewind

Phew, wish I'd gotten to this twelve hours ago, but here I am, tardy but showing my week. Have I mentioned that it's crazy, and I don't know if I'm coming or going?

I can't get over this boy. I love him. curly hair, and eyes that almost disappear when he smiles. I knew his daddy when he was this age, and that might be part of my fascination with him. It's so fun to watch!
Can I hear it for best uncle? The boys flip for him, and I must admit, the feeling is mutual.

It is so sweet to watch the high school boys playing catch with #1. The 5th and 6th grade boys were on the sidelines as a special treat. When #1 ran on the field to do his job, they would yell, "go little blue" Made my heart swell.  This is the epitomy of what small town high school games are all about.

Such perfect fall days. The sun is shining, temps are in the mid 70's. It doesn't get much better than this. Lots of football, Friday night High School games, #1's flag game. Little guy, baby girl, and fresh tomatoes. I can't get enough!
The daughter in law was inducted into her high school hall of fame. She is was inducted several years back on her own accomplishments. This time the ladies track team that won the state tournament. The amazing part of this, is there were only four members on the team. Daughter in law ran four different races, and the team won the title!

Scavenger Hunt Sunday

Another week, another hunt...I keep cutting it close, but I've got some shots.
This week's hunt is cracked, fallen, ordinary color, bokeh, and fence.

                                                                  cracked

This could have been for cracked and fallen, but I decided to stretch it out.

The little angel has fallen and can't get up.
                                                                     Ordinary Color
In Oregon, green is an oridinary color. We have it everywhere.
                                                                                Bokeh
                                                                              Fence
Little guy was on the other side of the fence at the high school football game. Brother is the ball boy, and I know he wanted to be out there too.

Friday mix and match

Such a busy week. I wanted to post just a couple of favorites. You would think life would slow down, but alas, this gerbil is still spinning out of control on the wheel!

Small Things with Love
Seriously, the most beautiful butterfly in the yard.

We've been calling #1 "snaggle tooth" His front tooth is hanging there, his entire mouth looks different, and his speech is different. Hoping he gets it out this weekend!
This guy has big blue eyes, but when he smiles, they disappear into the most amazing crescents. He's just too cute!

Had so much fun shooting "curly bob" who just turned three years old.

An empty chair is waiting

No, it's not the president. I'm not going to be talking about that empty chair. The chair that is empty is for a little girl with Downs syndrome who is all the way across the ocean in an orphanage, or "baby house."

Our friends, or my in town kids, or adopted kids, or whatever we call them, usually Rowdy's family, has been trying for over a year to adopt a sweet little girl. So many obstacles have been put in their way. Frustrations, anger, tears, but they haven't given up. They feel they are being called to be parents to this child.

They visited back in February, and fell even more deeply in love with her. The photos they had seen were pale in comparison to this spunky little chunky girl they want to call daughter.

Obstacles, bureaucracy, politics, so many things have kept them from their girl. Finally, a court date in early October. We are all nervously excited. Hoping and praying that the barriers will come down and they will be given permission to adopt this child.

If you are the praying type of person, please, take just a moment or two and pray for this family to be complete. Pray for smooth proceedings in court, safe travels and that a little girl far far away will have a forever home.
